There, there... Don't smile because it happened... CRY BECAUSE IT'S OVER!
Satan in his Hell Manor intermission
Satan is the final boss and the main antagonist in AntonBlast. He was held responsible for stealing Anton's prized vintage spirit collection. He was also the Missing Antagonist in Antonball Deluxe
Description[]
Satan has a pinkish-red skin, yellow eyes and teeth, big horns, a tail, wings and a black crown. His torso is quite plump, and he bears a butt. His legs are black and bent backwards, resembling those of a goat.
As Giga Satan. He is shown having a much more red skin, and a muscular body instead of a plump body.
Satan first appears in a cutscene, where he asks his magic mirror who's redder than the Devil himself. In which mirror reveals Dynamite Anton as the reddest individual (and to a lesser extent Annie). Enraged and envious, Satan sends his huge army of Ballbusters to steal Anton's entire spirit collection. It is unknown what happened to him at the end of the game, but it is assumed that he might've died from the Satan Switch explosion, or probably got away and survived.
Boss Behavior[]
Satan has 4 phases:
Phase 1 (Satan)[]
Satan, like most final bosses, is difficult, but also like most final bosses, he has a weak point. It's not his round shiny nose, or his crown, it's, you guessed it, his ASS. As for attacks, he has:
- Ass Bounce - Satan starts bouncing on his ass, Anton can hit his ass to damage him and send him higher into the air. Be careful however, as if you knock satan off-screen, he'll cancel the ass bounce and transition into the Asstomic Bomb
- Asstomic Bomb - Satan performs his own version of Anton's antomic bomb. Satan will jump high, attempting to take shortcuts to deal damage to Anton. Upon landing on his ass, he releases a shockwave (3 shockwaves if at around 33% health or lower) in both directions. When Satan lands, there's a short period in which he can be damaged
- Flute from Hell - Satan inhales deeply, and begins playing his nose like a flute. This summons 4 waves of demon rain that fall from above. These demons explode upon contact with Anton or the floor.
- Hammer Clutch - Satan pulls out a replica of Anton's Mighty Hammer and swings it, trying to hit Anton. Anton can perform his own shoulder clutch to clash into Satan's and parry him, sending Satan back and damaging him abit.
- Slingsledge - Satan takes out both a Dippo and a replica of Anton's Mighty Hammer. He smashes the Dippo with the hammer, then charges towards at a fast speed, he will get stuck in said wall for a long period of time, where you can then hit his ass.
Phase 2 (Spider Satan)[]
Just as Anton is about to land final blow on Satan, the magical mirror in a true moment of heroism, sacrifices itself to save Satan's life (what a guy...). Satan jawdrops before mourning the loss of his mirror before stating that he's "gotta get out of here.", Fleeing to the other end of his manor. Anton must complete an obstacle course to get to Satan.
Once caught, Satan loses it and begins to scream "ENOUGH!!!" as he starts to transform into a spider-centaur-like form, and begins to chase Anton in the opposite direction. When they return to the first arena, Anton trips, Satan takes out a gargantuan straw and begins to siphon all of the redness from Anton, therefore getting all of the redness and all of the power. In the next scene, Satan is shown as a burly and crimson version of himself (officially referred to as Giga Satan), and launches Anton into the "sky" to rot in the earth's core as he admires his new form, even thinking about getting a partner with his new physique.
The Spirits, however, come to Anton's aid, granting him new powers and a new demon-like form, turning him into a powerful Oni. The new Update allows you to skip the Transformation. In this form, Anton (or Annie or Paul) can clutch dash in all eight directions and has 10 hit points (represented by Anton getting his own set of boss health bars at the lower left of the screen), the downside is that you can't scream while in this form.
Phase 3 (Giga Satan)[]
Horrified and angered by the arrival of Oni Anton, Satan summons Jewel Ghoul, Freako Dragon, and Ring-a-Ding to fight him off... but, seeing as they've just barely started recovering, with Jewel Ghoul having his head bandaged after the crystalline bullet shattered his head to shards, Freako Dragon having only one surviving segment after crashing into Brazil, and Ring-a-Ding getting split in half after the Moon is hurled at him now presumely deceased, they get overpowered in one hit. Only for the Bossbusters to crash into the scene with their blimp, obliterating the castle. Oni Anton must dodge all of the rockets and make them hit the blimp instead while Giga Satan curses the Bossbusters for ruining everything. After enough hits, Oni Anton drops down to the ground as the blimp blows up, presumably killing all four of the Bossbusters, after the destruction of his lair.
"I guess it's true... If you want something done rrrright, you have to do it yourself!"
The final battle truly begins as Satan grows to a gigantic size.
Satan opens the battle by using his fingers to try and squish Anton, using one, two, or three at a time. His fingers are vulnerable to attack. After taking enough damage, Satan will change tactics and summon laser-firing pentagrams before beginning his next attack. Satan will throw rocks at Anton, before summoning three stacks of papers (one of which will be blasted by a laser pentagram) that will be mowed down by several waves of scissors. To damage him during this attack, Anton must clutch into the rocks after they've bounced once but before they've bounced twice. After several peltings, Satan will summon another wave of pentagram lasers before jumping into a new attack where he sends out four ball imps while raining down explosive projectiles. These ball imps must be hit several times in order for them to be sent back flying into Satan, damaging him in the process.
After being hit by enough ball imps (5 seems to be the number), the background will shift to a menagerie of swirling faces and Satan will revert to his finger attack after another laser barrage. After the finger attack, he'll progress into using his rock and scissors attack simultaneously. After this, Satan will then use the ball imp summons. Once his health is depleted, Satan will jump into the foreground and try to stomp on Anton, leaving his legs open to being clutched into. After "disabling" both of his legs, Satan will be forced to sit on Anton, prompting the player to mash the attack button to literally slap Satan's ass (again).
Phase 4 (Giga Satan's Face)[]
Foolishly bringing Oni Anton up to his face, Satan will attempt to spam him out using pentagram lasers and lasers from his eyes. Oni Anton can freely hit his nose to damage him, eventually breaking it. After breaking Satan's nose, his laser barrages will be reduced to a single beam and his crown will join into the battle, attempting to grab and trap Anton (which can be broken out of by clutching a few times) while Anton attempts to damage Satan's eyes. After giving him two black eyes, Anton can then break his crown, which ends the fight.
The following sequence sees Oni Anton growing his Mighty F'n Hammer to a massive size and walloping Satan, sending him flying as Anton launches after him. Satan releases a ton of red poker chips that can be collected. Anton can collect these, or fly into the crosshairs to speed up his pursuit of Satan. Eventually he'll close the gap and the final sequence will play, where the player is invited to mash the attack button to see how many times they can hit Satan before finally beating the red out of him with one last dramatic hammer swing, (If playing as Annie, one last dramatic mace swing, or Paul, a scaled up version of himself) concluding the fight and ending the game.
Aftermath[]
After being defeated, he returns to his normal form with his pinkish-red skin, distraught at this. He rambles that he could had it all, from his Castle now reduced to a rubble. His Mirror now deceased, with an emphasis of his new redness gone until he is reduced to tears while throwing a tantrum (What a baby.). He begins to see this as a sign of doing something else, only for him to notice the Dynamite Duo as he reverts to him being outright infuriated that everything was taken away from him. He decides to whip out the Satan Switch which would blow up his kingdom and everything in the Backburner Peninsula to smithereens as retaliation until detonating it, bidding farewell to Dynamite Anton as he escapes in the Explosions, it is unknown if he will return in the sequel.

Relationships[]
Anton[]
Satan absolutely despises Anton due to his envy for Anton's vibrant red tone - so much so he had sent his entire army of Ballbusters to steal the Dynamite Man's entire collection of alcoholic spirits. Before Jewel Ghoul's boss fight, a extremely pissed off and an absolutely LIVID Dynamite Anton outright calls him a "greasy son of a bitch" in a cold rage and threatens to destroy his kingdom and screams about how he is dealing with at the top of his lungs. Despite his jealousy of Anton's redness (or perhaps because of it), Satan seems to be enamored with Anton. During his intermissions, he can say "Do you suppose that Antoine thinks about me?" and "He loves me! He loves me not... He loves me!". His pre-battle cutscenes are of note as well: before Jewel Ghoul's battle he says Anton "blooms even more delightfully red in person", and before his own, he calls Anton his "little red delivery boy". He somehow knows Anton's middle name, but refuses to say what it is.
Annie[]
In their sole interaction, Satan is shown to have an immediate dislike and confusement towards Annie, with the latter being annoyed and tired at her by asking if Satan knows where the TV is instead of explaining why he stole Anton's spirits.
Brulo[]
Satan sent his hellspawn minions to wreak havoc across Brulo's businesses, leaving big tips without paying. The reason behind this is unknown. He also seems to distrust Brulo, saying that he "has some skeletons in his closet for sure", though whether or not this is anything more than a reference to the Skeletons In The Closet section of Brulo's Casino is unclear.

Trivia[]
- Satan is primarily inspired by Dr. Ivo Robotnik from Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog (most visible in Satan's facial structure and body build, in addition to several of his poses being directly lifted from the series) and the Red Guy from Cow and Chicken as well as I Am Weasel (most visible in the emphasis on his exaggerated buttocks and his voice).
- Satan plays tennis.[1]
- During an intermission, Satan may say, "Take a screenshot, it'll last longer!". If you were to take a screenshot through Steam, he will humorously respond with "Ah, I never!".
- His attack where he uses his nose as a flute is a reference to the opening of SpongeBob SquarePants.
- The first phase of his final boss encounter is heavily based-off the final boss of Wario Land: Shake It!! while the third phase seems inspired by both Cuphead's final boss and Donkey Kong 1994's final boss, even including a riff from the song of the penultimate boss of that second game inside the final boss theme.
- Before he runs off, Satan breaks the fourth wall by whispering to the player, “I gotta get out of here!”. This is a reference to multiple shows from the early 90’s. It’s also a reference where characters from Looney Tunes would “talk” to the audience.
- Despite Satan being an overall flamboyant and goofiest devil villains in most games and tv shows, he is still Satan and is very threatening and terrifying. One major example is the ending cutscene where he outright obliterates the entire world using the Satan Switch, and since Hell is part of the surface and not an actual dimension, everything in the Backburner Peninsula from Boiler City to Pinball Mire to be outright swept, destroyed, and vaporized in a massive explosion, with one lone survivor being the apartment. So it's very likely that he not only destroyed his kingdom, but he had literally caused the end of the world by nuking everything and killed most of his servants. It's probably for the best not to imagine what the Satan Switch explosion would actually looked like on-screen.
- Although Satan himself didn't appear in Antonball Deluxe, we get to see his design in a old cast line-up, but instead. We only see him as a silhouette overweight and large yellow-eye demon, he was also gonna be an antagonist before being replaced by a Ballbuster Tank. He is also seen in the very first Antonjam.
- In the cutscene where Anton strikes Satan with his hammer and then stands on a beaten-up Satan, this scene is a reference to the infamous banned Ren and Stimpy episode "Man's Best Friend", which has led the creator who should not be named nor mentioned to be fired from Nickelodeon. More specifically on these timestamps.
- Satan is the only boss in the game that isn’t represented by a single one of the seven deadly sins, instead embodying all seven of them - he takes great pride in his physique and complexion, he has envy for Anton's red skin, displays wrath towards him and Annie through commanding his armies, showcases his sloth in waiting for Anton to come to him instead of pursuing him directly, his portly stature implies his gluttony, he openly lusts after women and Anton in addition to his lust for red skin, and his opulent castle and poker chip collection show his greed.
- If you first play against Jewel Ghoul, Anton and Satan would have a dialogue inter-reaction. This also happens if you choose Annie.
- During the chase against a beaten up Giga Satan. A rock and roll version of Going Home from Antonball Deluxe can be heard. Serving as a triumphant end to the fight against the King of Hell himself.
- Satan has his own version of the Mighty F’n Hammer.
- In the center of said hammer, there is a pentagram, a sign for satanic rituals.
- Satan's intermissions are not completely randomized, and each level usually has 2-3 specific intermissions tailored to them. Hell Manor, however, only has one.
- If one manages to successfully parry Satan's hammer many times, an achievement "Shinobi Execution" will be awarded.
- in the game files, one of the sprites of Satan show his horns, crown, wings, legs, and rear having a green color. Had one modified the Green to be black colored, then the entirety of his sprites would be broken.
- In the cutscene where Anton transforms into an Oni, one of the spirits from Concrete Jungle is Missing, this was fixed in a later update.
- Satan doesn’t have red blood, he has golden ichor. (As seen in his face phase and after striking the redness out of him)
- The most likely reason why he has a grudge against Brulo like how he has a grudge against Satan is that he is helping Anton getting his spirits back and taking out his minions in his different establishments.
- There were theories about a final escape after the final boss such as Satan wrecking the place in TV Trope's WMG Page. JB Long the voice actor of Brulo, and the Mirror stated in My Experience as Designer that the game was originally gonna end with one Final escape scene after the fight, but felt like the final boss was a perfect climax, as the only Final happy hour is Hell Manor.
- Satan's quote during his intermissions "Oh, how I hate dealing with squatters!" Is referring to Mitch Moonits, mostly due to him being a traitor because of him helping Dynamite Anton retrieving his Stolen Spirit in Devilled Gardens.
- Right after Satan is defeated, a Metal Pipe sound effect can be heard in the ending cutscene
- Satan’s quote for Hell Manor is based off of a Dr. Seuss quote but swapped with a harsh tone, (the original quote is “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened”.)
