Pinball Mire is the seventh level of AntonBlast. It takes place in a muddy valley holding a pinball area.

General[]

The level takes place in a muddy swamp-like valley, the floor being made completely out of mud that the player will sink into and die in if the jump button is not frequently pressed. There is wooden scaffolding to keep above the mud, with purple boxes scattered about that regenerate if broken. Various new enemies are dotted around, including the Blunderbusters, the Anton Fishes, and a hand that reaches out of the mud to try to pull the player in.

Later in the level, Anton enters a lava-filled volcano below the swamp, where the pinball transformation is introduced, where Anton gains the ability to roll through various pinball courses throughout the rest of the level.

Just like what happened to Boiler City and Cinnamon Springs as both are completely destroyed and obliterated. Pinball Mire also became a victim of the Satan Switch explosion. But it's believed that it is due to the Satan Portraits.

Enemies[]

Objects[]

Detonators[]

The Yellow Diamond detonator is located at the end of the room "It's Inside the House", on top of a number of Yellow Diamond blocks. Pressing it destroys the floor of the room and allows you to drop down to "The Great Excave".

The Red Heart detonator is located in the room "Spruce Cadet". It is on the right of the traditional pinball section, and opens up the ceiling, allowing for further vertical travel.

The Green Club detonator is located in the room "Spruce Cadet". It is at the very top of the room. It unlocks the path to the Blue Spade detonator.

The Blue Spade detonator is located in the room "Spruce Cadet". It is on the right of the room, unlocked after activating the Green Club detonator. If you simply do nothing after activating the Green Club detonator, you will automatically be bounced to the Blue Spade Detonator. It unlocks the area to the left with the final needed cards to put the fire out at the bottom of the room, allowing you to progress.

Collectables[]

The Spirit is automatically collected upon entering the room "Spruce Cadet", as it is directly in the path of the pinball shooting through the rings of fire.

The Broken Bottles are in the room "Shooting Range", a secret room accessible from "Gimme a Hand!". In that room, near the end, there is a red building section with two purple brick blocks, above the second is a crack. Hammer Bounce to break the crack, then go through the dumpster. Bounce off of the Blunderbuster projectiles in order to get to the right side of the secret room to get the Broken Bottles.

The Cassette Tape is in the room "Cavern Catastrophe", the same room holding the pinball introduction. Near the beginning of the pinball segment, there is a ramp with two bounce-balls below it. Jumping from that ramp, you can land on top of the next section and roll to the area with the Cassette Tape. It is best to hold left when jumping from the ramp, as going too fast can result in you missing the jump. If the jump is missed, restarting from the last checkpoint doesn't revert much progress, so it doesn't affect much.

The Spray Can is found in the room "Point Blank", a secret room accessible from "Tunnel Vision". In "Tunnel Vision", bounce off of the rock shot by the Blunderbuster at the end of the room to the left after getting up to the platform on the right. The platform on the left will have a dumpster you can jump inside to get to the secret room. In there, avoid getting shot while platforming to the top to collect the Spray Can.

Secrets[]

Paul can be found at the bottom of the room "Rockslide Rumble" during Happy Hour. Simply drop off of the scaffolding to the rock below and climb the mountain using the Clutch button, where Paul will be waiting for you at the top.

Trivia[]

  • This level foreshadows Freako Dragon, because of the fact that it's a Pinball level and there are pinball machines that resemble Freako himself (despite the fact that Freako took place inside of a large Pachinko Machine).
  • The motif from Pinball Mire comes from an Unnamed swamp level in Antonland, way before it became Antonblast
  • Overall, Antonblast takes a lot of inspiration from the Crash Bandicoot series. However, Pinball Mire seems to reflect this the most:
    • The B layer of this level's soundtrack is entirely made using acappella, much like the whole soundtrack of Crash Twinsanity. The vocals was done by composer and game director Tony Grayson.
    • Some of the level's rooms also share the name of stages of Crash Twinsanity (like "Rockslide Rumble" or "Cavern Catastrophe").
    • The Anton Fish enemy is directly based off the Bandifish from Crash Bandicoot: Warped, as both are fishy versions of the protagonist.
    • One of the most quotes from Satan has him saying "I heard they're making Anton Twinsanity." He even says his name correctly instead of him saying Antoine.
  • At a certain point in the level, Antonball Classic is referenced.
  • The title card design is based off the logo for Space Cadet, a pinball game that was included with Windows XP.
    • that one room of the level named spruce cadet in the corner:
  • This level's Spirit bears a striking resemblance to Brulo.
  • This level is infamous and mostly disliked due to the Pinball controls. As what Micro Demon said: "If you can't pinball under pressure, you're no pinballer at all..."
  • This is the only level where you can instantly get a Bad Luck by being dragged down by the Muddy Hands or by Sinking in the mud without pressing jump.
